My Spots Instructions:
Caution: Please do not use My Spots while driving a car. Using My Spots while driving will greatly distract you from the road and may cause you to crash.
Note 1: My Spots uses your phone's internal location services. For best results, this application should not be used indoors as your phone's GPS receiver may not be able to get information from satellites. This can cause inaccuracies in measurements. For example, you phone will probably not receive satellite information when in a parking garage. Heavily wooded areas may result in less accurate measurements as well.
Note 2: My Spots disables your phone's auto lock function. However, pressing the power button will put the phone into lock. Because the phone will not auto lock, using My Spots for a long period of time will put a heavy battery drain on your phone.
Getting Started:
When you start My Spots for the first time, the program will ask you for permission to use your phone's location services. You must click <OK> or this application will not function. (NOTE: My Spots does not share any information from your phone)
The "spot" page:

NOTE: The compass and
direction arrow readings use your phone's GPS information. You need to
walk in a straight line for at least 20 feet to get an accurate reading.
The "details" page:

This screen show the same compass as the "spot" screen but includes much
more navigation detail. NOTE: The reddish
colored numbers near the bottom show the latitude and longitude of your
target.
The "settings" page:

On the "settings" screen, you can turn on or off access to your locations
services. NOTE: This does not effect your
phone's location service settings. It merely gives the My Spots
application permission to use those services.
You can also select the measurement units and the input format. The
input formats are:
Decimal: (ex: 38.3456765)
Degrees (DDD MM.MMMM) (ex: 39 20.74059)
The "history" page:

Every time you choose to navigate to a new spot, an entry will be added to
this "history" page. This page is sorted by most recent first.
Clicking on any entry here will allow you to:
- Navigate to history entry
- Rename the entry
- Add the entry to favorites
- Delete the entry.
The "favorites" page:

This page functions just like the history page but it keeps your favorites.
Clicking on an entry gives you the option to:
- Navigate to history entry
- Rename the entry
- Remove the entry from
favorites
The "about" page:

This page shows you some information about the application. You can
click on a link to this web site or you can click the support link to send
an email message to the MCTronix.com support team.
Navigation:
From the settings page, select your preferences for measurement units and longitude/latitude input format.
From the "spot" page, click the <New Spot> button.
The following page appears:

By default, the spot name will be the current date and time. You can change this by typing in a new name.
Select a method for entering the coordinates.
From Here: Enters the stop where you are standing as the target spot. The navigation will start immediately. Use this if you will later need to find your way back. This is also helpful for waypoint or breadcrumbs type navigation (for example: As you're walking, click the <New Spot> and <From Here> buttons often. Then, to find your way back, go to the "history page" and start navigation from the top of the list down. This will allow you to re-trace your steps).
Use Map: When you press this button, the Bing map will appear and be centered on your current location. Simply find where you want to go and tap on that part of the map. The coordinates will be entered for you automatically.
Manual: Alows you to enter the latitude and longitude manually. You will be presented with one of 2 screens depending on which option you selected on the settings page. NOTE: Be sure you enter the data correctly.
If you selected something other than <From Here>, press the <Continue> button to start the navigation to your spot.
Use the compass, arrow, distance and speed settings to
find your way to your spot.
NOTE: As mentioned
earlier in this document, you need to walk in a straight line for at least
20 feet for the compass and arrow to get the information from the satalites.
